Our Program...
The Life Skills Support Program seeks to fully develop each student's potential by recognizing their individuality and providing an educational program that challenges students to become life long learners. The collaborative effort of families, school, and the community helps foster the personal development of each student, so they may become independent members of the school and community. Instruction emphasis is placed on functional academics, communication and social skills, gross and fine motor skills, and personal and domestic maintenance skills. We will also participate in community field training experiences to enhance these skills out in our community!
Classroom support consists of an adapted or modified general education curriculum, as well as replacement curriculum, based on individual student needs. Opportunities for appropriate inclusion are supported. The program provides a continuum of services for students.
Due to the many different cognitive, physical, medical, communication, and social needs of these students, there is no one set of traits shared by all. Each child's program will differ due to individualized needs reflected in his/her IEP. For instruction to be effective, our program will provide:
The importance of family involvement in all aspects of the educational process cannot be stressed enough. Working together as a team to develop and revise educational plans will provide the most effective interventions for your child. On-going communication and collaboration will strengthen our planning and ensure that each student makes optimal progress.
